AMN11 Meeting

The NSP Eastern Division Avalanche, Mountain Travel & Rescue, and Nordic instructors will hold their fall training event the weekend of September 16 to 18, 2011, in Northfield, Massachusetts. Our hosts will be the Northfield Mountain Recreation and Environmental Center and the Northfield Mountain Nordic Ski Patrol.

What to Bring

Be prepared for prevailing weather conditions by checking the weather site below. Read the hints for making your weekend more productive and comfortable. If you plan to bring a dog, be sure to read Northfield Mountain's dog policy.

Meals Provided

FoodA continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday. Attendees will arrange for other meals. Check out the menus.


Directions Northfield Mountain is located near the junction of I-91 and Route 2 near the intersection of Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Find driving directions and maps here.



Barton Cove, managed by Northfield Mountain, is the group campground for the event. The campsite is wooded and scenic. There will be no running water at the campground. More >>



For those not staying at the group campsite, overnight accommodations, ranging from motels to bed-and-breakfasts, are available nearby.

Dining Out


Sit-down and fast-food restaurants are available in the area. Most have wine and beer licenses. View a list of restaurants and some take-out food stores.

As of Friday, September 16, the weekend forecast calls for sunny, cool days and nippy nights.



Cellphone service enroute should be excellent on major highways. Verizon has strong reception at Northfield Mountain. Pay phones are available at Northfield and at the campsite.
